Christian Author Maurie Daigneau
The Gospel You’ve Never Heard:

A CBM Christian Book Review
10.0 out of 10.0 stars

Rediscovering the Gospel describes Maurie Daigneau’s new book. He writes, “I did not write The Gospel You’ve Never Heard to intentionally repeat anything. I wrote it to clarify and to bring to light an understanding of the gospel that has been lost to the church and world for a very long time. It needs to be rediscovered. “…challenging, thought-provoking, and quite possibly deeply convicting” describe the author’s own sentiments about this book.

Readers will also find this book to be a powerful and transformational voice for the truth of the Gospel spoken from a compassionate and Biblical viewpoint. Different facets of what it is to understand and be obedient to Christ offers a deeper understanding of how and why the Gospel is fully relevant to one’s life, and not just in an eternal sense. Included at the end of each chapter are reflection questions for personal use and/or group Bible study.

Blending his own life experiences, the author goes to great lengths to bring great understanding of exactly “what” this “Good News” means to all aspects of life, as he found the truth of relying on God as the “only Teacher.” With that, he dispels confusion and misconceptions, as he offers the overall “bigger picture” to bring clarity in a world that seems bent on violence, disobedience to God, and destruction. In short, he relays a message to all that is the basis of Proverbs 4:7: "The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; and with all your acquiring, get understanding."

His purpose in writing the book is over his concern of the Biblical and spiritual decline that America finds itself. The author mentions the hypocrisy, coupled with the lack of preaching and understanding of the truth of the Gospel, that has led this country to a place that is far from obedience to Christ – even for those who call themselves Christians.

He also differentiates the Law, dying from the old-self (unregenerate and separated from God) to the Regenerate (Spirit-filled, set apart, new life in Christ), as the inner man that is set free from the captivity of sin. Christ’s sacrifice is wonderfully and easily explained through Scripture and apostle Paul’s teachings in Romans and Hebrews.

This book is a vital must-read to all those who desire truth.

Maurie Daigneau expresses that living in the “Light” of God’s Kingdom and wisdom is to obey Christ’s commands. Phenomenal and written for “such a time as this” he calls all into a journey of rediscovering the true Gospel that will dramatically impact our daily lives, our family, our cities, nations, and the globe. Without pointing a finger, he speaks with great conviction, offering answers to some of life’s deepest questions while presenting truths of Scripture.

A highly recommended and impactful life-changing read!

The Christian Bookshelf Presents From Chaos To Christ-Likeness

In a world where few Christian leaders walk in integrity and go the full distance in ministry, it is imperative to discover why so many fail while others succeed going on to complete the race.

Eddie Fernandes continues to lead as a senior pastor for over three decades despite enormous challenges and opposition. He defends that all believers should blossom into leaders as they grow and develop spiritually. Sadly, a significant number of believers implode at a vital stage of spiritual development that he identifies as “conflict”.

To confirm a theory for his Doctoral research, comparing our spiritual development to the trajectory of a river from source to destination, Eddie embarked on a journey covering half a dozen countries. He interviewed or surveyed 386 leaders from different churches and organizations, including Christian leaders in the business world. His conclusions proved his theory right: leaders don’t finish well because they haven’t learned how to cope with, or press beyond, the stage he identifies as “conflict”. Many never received the training, tools or much-needed help to keep going when they were blindsided by forces intent on disqualifying them as leaders and destroying their noble efforts to serve their Lord. This book provides an understanding of the seven spiritual developmental stages to help transformational leaders start and finish well: chaos, confusion, community, conformity, conflict, crossroads and Christ-likeness.

In the final stage Eddie unpacks characteristics every Christian leader should strive to embrace. Readers will be surprised, refreshed and challenged by his insights and his own faith journey. He is a leader that has survived, and by God’s grace continues to thrive, despite many seasons of conflict, both from within and from without the Church.

The Answer To Sin

What is the best hope for mankind, given the condition of the world we now live in? Actually, it is "forgiveness". There is no way that man has hope without God's forgiveness. This book focuses on the unfolding of God's intent to forgive man, regardless of his sins; if there is a change of heart, or simply a repentant state of mind.

This book covers the lives of many individuals within the scriptures who experienced the forgiveness of God after great and shocking acts of evil. It shows us that there is still hope for us today. For the Lord has said unto us; "Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD, Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool."( Isaiah 1:18,19).

Truly An Amazing Read!

A Promise Made and a Promise Kept -
Never Forsaken is a labor of love told by Cindy Scott, the daughter of Marion Ghent Jose Lau. Her mother’s memoir reaches back in time to the early 1900’s, through WWII, to present day.

Cindy Scott spent two years gathering the several manuscripts her mother penned over fifteen years and combined them with taped interviews to fill in the gaps. The finished work fulfills her promise before her mother's death to see this book, Never Forsaken, published.

Never Forsaken is a true-life testimony of survival and restoration after WWII, including the big move to America for a better life. I was hooked from the first chapter. Marion’s rendition of life back then, her father’s radical transformation, becoming born again after being a drinker and gambler, reeled me right in. With a tinge of humor in the section of Papa’s new life, this is a touching sentiment of how the Word of God broke through such a calloused heart.

Readers will find Marion Ghent’s harrowing journey as a young girl in the Philippines an amazing adventure. Being the youngest of eleven living siblings and the daughter of a colporteur for the American Bible Society, surely this story is an inspiring read that relates God’s absolute faithfulness and how He works in the humblest of ways. The book also relays the efforts of the foot soldiers of the Gospel, and reveals the treasure of how the Gospel goes forth.

The Ghent’s surviving the shock of war and the tragedies that followed, shed light on loss, but a strong, persevering faith that comes to fruition in finding a new life in America. Certainly, this may be a movie in the making. Exciting, touching, and a powerful story, amazing endurance unfolds during some of life’s pivotal moments, relating Marion’s tale of never being forsaken by God.

Leading to a triumphant restoration with long lost family members after the scattering of the War years, the author takes readers from beginning to an end of an era long gone. One will be left in awe and find inspiration to all that Marion Ghent and her relatives had to go through during those humble years in the Philippines, escaping and hiding in the jungle for three years. In this miraculous book, history literally unfolds as the awful horrors of war in a foreign country.

Cindy Scott has culminated history and the telling of Marion's story, and her life experience that also includes photos, maps, text and indexes explaining these far off and quite exotic places in the Philippines.

One will find that faith, courage, and overcoming do not come without struggles. Yet, God is ever faithful!

The Two Most Important Books That You Could Read

No words could express the importance of the following two books. They are both filled with an amazing amount of information, insight and Godly principles that will empower every parent and child to be safe from predators

Reina Davison releases Overcoming Abuse: Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Protection--A Guide for Parents Caregivers and Helpers by Reina Davison offers a 3-part handbook to parents, caregivers, and helpers to aid in protection against child sexual abuse. Coupled with the use of Biblical principles, stages of development in children, this book teaches, educates and gives parents the arsenal they need to educate themselves and their families in either prevention or healing from traumatic child sexual abuse (CSA).

Giving the definitions of child sexual abuse (CSA) and the staggering statistics in our nation, coupled with the abuse worldwide – the abuse of children is unprecedented.

Our day and age is raging with this sin against the most innocent of beings – children. Abuse comes in many forms and can be quite insidious, thus the author’s efforts focus on sexual abuse. She also gives insight into the psychiatric dynamics of a sexual predator or offender. Her book is well-rounded and an overview on the subject of CSA that gives knowledge, help and guidance as a manual for prevention and protection against such crimes.

As a comprehensive handbook, one can glean the contents and find out not only how to use her guide, but understand how to limit internet media and device pornography, recognize strategies of perpetrators, giving tips of what to do and what not to do – parents, caregivers and helpers can help recognize, prevent and protect children against childhood sexual abuse. This guide is an invaluable resource, offering also an overview of the main reasons for abuse (the psychology of abusers) to help readers spot unsafe behaviors, giving them a guidebook in tracking and preventing child sexual abuse.

With a section on educating your child on this subject, this book takes all the pieces of a giant puzzle, and even sheds light on the judicial system in relation to this issue. With different stages of age, such as birth to toddler, toddler to five, six to twelve, and twelve to eighteen, the author has broken down the different stages of growth, exposing the different levels of opportunity that sexual predators may use against a child at these ages, along with age appropriate environments and care providers.

This book comes as a highly recommended guide and handbook for parents and caregivers as well as for those dealing with such issues, pastors, police, counselors, child psychologists, medical staff, and the court system will find this information useful in teaching child sexual abuse (CSA) prevention and protection!

By educating ourselves as parents and our children, together we can make a huge diffence in the lives of our children and our world.

Overcoming Abuse: My Body Belongs to God and Me – A Child’s Body Safety Guide by Reina Davison speaks to children, telling them they are “Overcomers.”

This is a wonderful truth in God’s Word, as she begins the book by the definition of what an overcomer is. Opening children’s eyes to the truth of God’s purpose and plans for them, she goes on to describe God’s gift of free will. Describing Good Touch and Bad Touch; she elaborates on these two and what that can encompass. There are Good Touch people and Bad Touch people. Her book gives hope to children who have or have not experienced abuse by speaking the truth of God’s love and care for their body. She also teaches children how to prevent abuse by giving them the tools to know the difference between a healthy relationship and unhealthy relationships.

Writing from a Biblical perspective, yet incredibly gentle and simple, Reina Davison gives hope and guidance that exposes the darkness and sin of the enemy lurking in our lives. These people are unsafe and “No Touch” people as Reina explains. Her premise teaches children the principle of becoming “Overcomers” in Christ Jesus. This is a fantastic book that teaches wonderful and enlightening spiritual truths to children. (Note: This book just may encourage adults as well; teaching them that they are overcomers!) I personally enjoyed the uplifting truths to her book and thought…I wish I had a book such as this when I was a child. You will be delighted by this book as well.

As a guidebook, this book teaches parents, caregivers, family members, etc., to understand what safe behavior is in and out of the home. Her Body Safety guide in the back provides a checklist for adults to adhere to in protecting children. With beautiful illustrations, the author sheds light on walking in the truth of God’s Word, while giving them instruction of their enemy (the devil), the Bible, and Jesus, offering hope and encouragement to look to Jesus as their help and Savior. Her book shows that God has a good plan for them and cares for them. She shares that they are Overcomers and can defeat the enemy (the devil) and that because of Jesus, they too can choose to be of Good Cheer (be happy).

This book comes highly recommended for all children who need to be taught encouraging truths about God’s Word, and especially is a tool to be used by parents, counselors, pastors, child psychologists, medical personnel, and lay persons to teach about healthy sexual boundaries.

To tell you the truth, this is one of those books parents should utilize in teaching their children about bad people that sin and touch inappropriately. She has given a list of resources in the back of the book, and is an advocate of ending child sexual abuse. Written with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity to children’s pure intellects, this book does a wonderful job in tackling a difficult subject.

Such Biblical heroes bring great hope and faith, such as: David, Apostle Paul, the Disciples, all springing forth from the ministry of Jesus.

A CBM Christian Book Review - 10.0 out 10.0 stars

This is an incredibly touching memoir that all will not want to miss!

Matzah Balls to Communion Wafers is an excellent and intriguing memoir peering into the depths of a woman’s soul torn by worldly and religious culture, family heritage, and anti-semitism, thus revealing a steady quest for knowledge and truth in the light of the love of God. ~ CBM Christian Book Reviews

Gail Baker pens a delightful and life-enriching memoir. Filled with memorable familial insights and battles, Gail Baker relates her common Jewish family, bridging the gap between tradition and faith as a Jewish woman.

Raised as a Jewish girl amongst many Christians, Gail Baker grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. Blending a tenacious personality, humor, and candor, her intelligence and analytical abilities shine throughout the book. A timeline of poignant moments from childhood to adulthood defined and shaped her family, her life and some of her outcomes. Lovingly speaking of her family roots and history, her story unfolds as a young girl coming of age. Insights and highlights shed light into the beliefs of her Jewish family, the era they lived in and Jewish resolve and unity from her family’s effortless support of humanitarian efforts, to include the establishment of Israel as a nation in 1967.

I found myself not able to put down her memoir. As I read of the turbulent 60’s during her days in college, she reflects back on her upbringing that relates dysfunction on many levels. Despite, Judaism (which played a nominal role in Gail’s young life), she describes a young girl cloistered by the knowledge of anti-semitism and shallow Christianity.

This led to a voracious pursuit of philosophical and theological dictum that bring about understanding of the ideals she has come to know. She shares these perspectives, quotes, scripture verses and insight that gives her book texture and depth. She relates a deep spiritual journey that led to a splendid concession of simply coming to the only One that could bring peace to her soul, Jesus Christ.

With such harmony, she summarizes misconceptions, anxiety, fear, faith and the issues with raising a child that came into difficulty. She also fervently describes her loving pursuit in helping her son, in which her mother’s heart is revealed in such a tender way.

What readers will find is that woven within the tapestry of her book springs forth a deep spiritual conviction to find Truth. This book will move readers deep within their soul, build faith and inspire admiration for God’s chosen people. Her sculpted memoir relates grace and intensity simultaneously. Her story culminates in a wonderful and beautiful love story from a “not-so Kosher Jewish girl that fell in love with Jesus.”

Matzah Balls to Communion Wafers comes as a highly recommended read for all Christians and Jewish individuals, especially to those that perhaps may be grappling with faith, tradition and religion. Purely enjoyable!

Thank you Gail for sharing your life with us!

Sword of the Spirit - A Must Read Page Turner

Highly Recommended ~ CBM
To most in the Realm of Drugolin, otherly spirit lore lingered as mysterious legends best suited for late night hearths. On rare occasions one might hear of strange visitations. Some of huge, radiant beings bearing aid and guidance. Others of dark, evil creatures summoning dread anddeath. All were a part of Drugolish legend, but few took them seriously.

The westland village of Noy couldn’t afford the apathy of its unenlightened, middleland neighbors. Its enclosing fortress walls stood as a monument to the frightening visitations it experienced, day and night.

When the town’s most celebrated
otherly adventurer receives a prophetic lamp, he teams with one final group on a faith empowering mission into the dread regions of evil that could usher in an eternal age where mortals are like angels and God reigns supreme.

Yahwin (God), Krystos (Jesus), Sahron (Satan), a host of
otherly foes, warrior angels, and warrior prophets endued with extraordinary power all inhabit this peculiar realm in which author Mark Norris tells an eschatological tale that wars for the Millennium’s victor’s rights.

What would you do if an angel materialized in your bedroom tonight, handed you a prophetic lampstand that projected the events of Satan’s rebellion, and invited you to brave the powers of hell?  .................
The otherly is waiting,…will you go?

What others say about Sword of the Spirit:

In Sword of the Spirit, Mark takes us on an intense and imaginative quest that parallels our own lives. A great piece of work that captivates the reader while increasing our ability to remain free from the schemes of darkness. I love  it. It is lush in imagery.“ ~ Gary Crawford

This book really made me think. It delves into spiritual warfare, and considers some of the ways God could anoint believers who resist the enemy in the last days. This book challenged me to believe God for some things I had never considered before. But, it is also a good story. It has plenty of action and I found it hard to put down. I recommend it!” ~ Tom Miller

What is God’s Responsibility in Human Suffering?

Title: God, I’m Angry at You!
Where were you God when I was hurting?
By: Lawrence W. Stanfield, PHD
A CBM Christian Book Review
10.0 out of 10.0 stars

God, I’m Angry at You! Where were you God when I was hurting? by Lawrence W. Stanfield, PhD, offers the story of Joseph captured in the book of Genesis as a backdrop to come alongside trauma survivors, giving hope and instruction that will usher in a progressive approach to inner healing.  A chapter-by-chapter approach gives readers a glimpse of Joseph’s ancestral traits and sins, while providing an understanding of familial dysfunction, abuse, generational bloodline transfers and so much more, to bring Biblical and practical inner healing from past traumas.

The author has written a much-needed book that should be recognized not only by the Christian community, but by the secular community.  His purpose in writing the book is to address the silent epidemic and the alarming deterioration of family units and individuals. The author teaches Biblical principles that intertwine with Joseph’s story to help readers understand their past in order to move forward in their present.  This book also has the potential to bring much healing of the mind, soul and spirit with a look at Joseph who is much like us today.

The story of Joseph is one of family dysfunction and victory (in the end of course); but not before unimaginable trauma, separation, betrayal, loss and heartache took place.  Readers will embark on a journey through progressive chapters such as: Home, Your Launchpad for Self-Destruction, Caution! You Have Hidden Baggage, Is Your Past Your Present? Are You Programmed to Self-Destruct? God, I am Hurting! Where Are You God? What is God’s Responsibility in Human Suffering? Will You Be Made Whole? (John 5:6) Your Divine Encounter with God. The author goes to great lengths to teach a practical way of healing embedded within the pages of Joseph’s story and the Bible.  The author states that we (as humans) can only submit ourselves into the Potter’s hands as clay (something to keep in mind).

His book reveals a flurry of wrong choices beginning from Rebekah (Jacob’s mother) to a wide range of emotions, mindsets and self-destructive thoughts and ways that keep us from God.  Encouraging all to look up to God, the author speaks from a psychological standpoint as one who was well-acquainted with failure and certainly understands feelings of hopelessness, despair, and not measuring up. Yet, he adamantly states God is the only One who can meet us in our darkest nights and pit experiences to see us through. God’s compassion, love, and instruction is revealed through the life of Joseph, similarly we can expect the same.  Insight into the human psyche gives us a front-row seat and the author challenges readers to thought-provoking issues that will bring enlightenment, healing and the grace of God upon one’s life.

God, I’m Angry at You! Where were you God when I was Hurting? further sheds light in the statement and thought of, where were you God when I needed you the most?  His book provides answers to human suffering and offers hope through that pervasive question prevalent in the story of Joseph and in our own lives.

This book comes highly recommended due to the author’s vast experience with trauma victims, his trauma counsel experience, as well as a being a pastor and minister for many years, including work in the social services serving children and families.
